Helen G Events Interview

By Interviewer at 03/11/09 12:57

Name of your website?

Helen G Events

Your name?

Helen Graham

Your Location (city, etc)

Kingston

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Helen G Event Planning & Design is Jamaica's premier wedding planner. We create unique weddings for each couple at stunning private locations including the beach, waterfalls, mountain views, villas, yacht and more....

Helen G provides the highest level of service for our clients. We co-ordinate quality events such as family reunions and weddings in Jamaica. We can provide acommodations, event sites, caterers, florists, photographers, transportation, hair and make up artist and much more.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I saw the need for persons to get timely information re getting married in Jamaica and sought to in addition provide quality service and timely responses as it is a shortly fall I must admit of many local companies

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I launch my first site in 2001 and it was rentjamaica.com which deals with vacation rentals in Jamaica, it is currently being revamped. This website led to helengevents as alot of persons kept asking us for help in securing wedding services.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

My name is Helen Graham, so I used my name

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We offer quality services, ease of communication and the quality of the events we produce is a cut above the rest

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To grow the business to a point where we coordinate not just events in Jamaica but the entire caribbean

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We have gained much more monetarily than we invested. As regards to time I think have put in alot but its all worth it and its to me what I like to do its not just a job or a way to make money.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Not sure as I am pleased with the site as is. But my main focus would be to find ways to make it easier for our customers to communicate with us and get the information they need real time. I would add a e-commerce section to the site where customers can se their own accounts and pay us online.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Its not really a headache but I am constantly looking for ways to make the website its best and its can be costly.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Staying ahead of the game

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Listing on other websites

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It hasnt differed as I know anything in life thats worth anything takes hard work and I am a hard worker. It has actually been fun and I have learned alot while doing it.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site has been up since 2007 and for me its not about the money so it will be here for a long time. Plus its doesnt cost alot for me to keep the site up.

How do you feel about Jamaica as a wedding destination and what role do you want to play

I think its one of the best options possible and I want to just help to highlight and promote what is already here but may be difficult for the non Jamaican to find.

What is your website address?

Helen G Events
