A Wedding To Behold Interview

By Interviewer at 07/25/09 12:27

Name of your website?

A Wedding To Behold

Your name?

James Wambugu

Your Location (city, etc)

Nairobi

Please give us a short summary of your website?

My website is a .mobi site. This means it is primarily created to run on a mobile phone platform. The site is a portal where you can find wedding planners and event organizers from the East African Region and also make wedding announcements.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

The mobile phone is to be found everywhere and nowadays people are always on the go. Providing a mobile portal where you are able to get all that you are looking for from anywhere and quickly inspired me to come up with this project. When I found out that it was lacking on the internet I decided to launch it on mobile internet.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Actually this is my first website and I am working on my second which will mainly cater for Real Estate listings.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The word harusi is Wedding in Swahili, the official language of East Africa.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

First it runs on mobile platform. Secondly,it is a wedding portal to bring all vendors in one shop where they can be easily accessed by their target market. Mobile penetration in East Africa far outstrips computer penetration.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To keep it for income

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

To be successful you must devote your quality time and resources. I am able to pursue both diligently to attain my success

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I am fascinated by the .mobi technology and I would use the resource at my disposal to create for .mobi sites for business, charity and awareness.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, I have a team of well experienced webmasters who can handle any eventuality

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

The biggest headache had had to do with creating the site to be mobile friendly and also marketing. Registering a .mobi domain is much higher than.com domains. It's just a rip off as it is new stuff.

What has been your biggest challenge?

To make people aware of .mobi presence.People are still glued to PC internet

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Social media and word of mouth

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

At first, I thought wedding planners would embrase the idea but they are slow at picking up the concept but am hopeful eventually they will understand the concept

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

If it goes platinum,I will keep it for one year and then invite partners so that they can inject more capital for future growth

5 years from now what are your expectations

Harusi.mobi to have helped countless business grow and ease the hustle of couples getting married.Wedding day comes once,no repeat.

What is your website address?
