Please give us a short summary of your website?
A bride and groom's resource for outdoor wedding planning, valuable ideas and practical wedding tips needed in planning their dream wedding.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
When Nick (then-fiance, now-husband) and I were planning for our own outdoor wedding, we cannot find a single site that primarily caters to planning it. That is why this website came into being. My goal is to help brides by giving them insights, ideas and relevant information that they need to plan their outdoor wedding event.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website, outdoor-wedding-ideas.com, and it went live April 2009.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I want to make sure that my website name reflects what my content is all about. I also made sure that the main keyword I am using is in the domain name.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
My website answers all the questions that I have when I was planning for my own wedding. I wanted to have an outdoor wedding and I cannot find a site that specifically caters to my need at that time. My site is all about outdoor weddings, what a bride (and groom) needs to do when planning an outdoor event, from start to finish. I also provide recommended sites that I believe would be beneficial for the bride and groom while they are planning their wedding event.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I describe myself as a full time mother and housewife, part-time Registered Nurse and a 24/7 Infopreneur (through my website). Eventually, my goal is to be able to generate a good income stream from my website so I can do what I want to do the most: be a stay-at-home mom.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
As of right now, since I am just into 2 months of launching my website, their is no payoff yet, but it will eventually come. I regard this not as a get-rich-quick scheme but as a long-term payoff endeavor. I work overtime now, but later on, as my site matures and gets the much needed traffic I need, then I can work as much or as little as I would like on it.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
For right now, I am very happy with my site.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Since my site does not involve selling any hard goods/products, this is not a concern. All I need to do is to provide more relevant content and I believe that this kind of demand, I can keep up with.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
As of now, nothing. Maybe later on? I don't know yet. :)
What has been your biggest challenge?
Time. I am a mom of 2 kids - one is 4 years old and recently I just had a newborn baby - she is 4 months old as of this writing. Not to mention the needs of my husband, house works and of course, my part-time job as an ER nurse. You can just imagine the demand all these have on my time and attention. But I am hanging in there. I don't want to lose sight of my goal.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Just basically writing great content which is very rich with high demand keywords. The company I am working with to produce my site is just awesome. I cannot do anything without it. Thank you SBI!
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
With all the tools that I have at my disposal, thanks to SBI!, it is a lot easier than I have expected.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
As I have mentioned before, my site is brand-new! Just 2 months old. I will continue doing it until all my pages will be on the top 10 sites in Google's pages.
How are you able to do all this without having a computer technical background?
All of this I was able to do thanks to Site Build It! (SBI!). I absolutely have no computer background at all. Building a website on my own? Forget it. But, with the help of SBI!, I did it. If you are interested on how I was able to do it, read my article at http://www.outdoor-wedding-ideas-and-planning-guide.com/about-me.html
