Simple rules to follow that have worked in my marriage....1. Let bygones be bygones. Never bring up mistakes of the past.
2. Always communicate with one another. Talk about interesting things that happened in your day.
3. Avoid both being angry at the same time. Walk away if you know you can't control your temper.
4. Never yell at each other unless the house is on fire.
5. If one of you has to win an argument, let it be your mate.
6. Never go to sleep with an argument unsettled.
7. At least once every day try to say a kind or complimentary thing to your life partner. Give your partner a hug first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
8. When you have done something wrong, be ready to admit it and ask for forgiveness.
9. Never point fingers, as no one is perfect. Remove the word "YOU" from your vocabulary.
10. It takes two to make a quarrel. The one in the wrong is the one who does the most talking.
11. Respect one another. Never wash your dirty linen in public.
12. Work together as a team. Do things together as a team.
13. Accept one another for what you are and not what you want him or her to be.
14. After marriage, all things become ours and not yours and mine.
15. The cardinal rule is that marriage is a commitment of a life-time, honour your side of the bargain.
